Hello friends,
This is my first post here. If you see any grammatical errors (you will), look away because my publisher isn’t spellchecking it, and I can barely read or write as is. It’s two months from Hispanic Heritage Month, so watch it.
Anyway, I’ve been in this weird in-between for a while, having a book deal but not having a cover, a date, or a place on retailer sites. It’s been long enough that my friends and family started to think I made the whole thing up (I was beginning to feel the same).
I have all those things now!
First up: A date.
Build a Girlfriend officially releases on January 14th, 2025. Get those Christmas gift cards ready and buy my book so I don’t look like a loser to my peers. BAG is available wherever books are!
Seeing my name and my book on Barnes and Noble and other retailers is such a strange thing. I am often unable to emote properly, so when I’m excited, happy, sad, or anything, I look like 🧍🏻♀️. Blame the childhood trauma, I guess. However, without awkwardly standing or stumbling over my words, I am exceptionally grateful to be getting published by an incredible team and a phenomenal editor who is equally talented and funny, which helped tremendously with editing BAG. (Dainese, you’re a star; they should give you a raise immediately) And, of course, Emily, who is the reason this book ever got into Simon and Schuster’s hands. I will refrain from embarrassing us both by saying what you mean to me.
Less words now, take a look at the beautiful cover by Betsy Cola and jacket design by Krista Vossen:

BUY BAG
Preorders make publishers care about me, so if you can, if you want, perchance, by chance, if you’re so inclined, I would appreciate it and kiss you on the mouth for every preorder I get.
What I’m playing:
In anticipation of Dragon Age Veilguard, I’ve been replaying Inquisition. If you’re not familiar with the series, they’re separate games with new characters but your choices roll over to the following games, so the decisions you make can affect who lives or dies or shows up to annoy you. I’m torn between romancing Cullen or Solas for obvious reasons, but mainly, all I want is for the next game to HAVE FENRIS!
What I’m reading:
Sophie Kim is undeniably one of the most talented writers right now. Every book I read, I’m left agonizingly wanting more, and I’m halfway through The God and the Gumiho and know that feeling will overwhelm me all too soon.
In this sly and dazzling contemporary fantasy, the most notorious nine-tailed fox in Korea pairs up with a trickster god–turned–detective to track down a wrathful demon . . . before it can destroy the mortal world.
So incredibly proud and excited for you!!! I can’t wait for all 2k copies to arrive in the mail 🤩
ps why did you leave out Hero Realms in your “What I’m Playing” update hmm
